Formula Renault Winter Series November 2007
Marc
joined British Formula 3 champions Hitech Racing, in their Formula
Renault debut at the Winter Series. The series was contested over
four rounds, at Donington Park and Croft. With these being Marc’s
first races in a car with aerodynamic aids, it was going to be
a challenge for Marc to get used to the Formula Renault car in
the limited testing time. Unfortunately his first race at Donington
was ended after not even one lap, due to an over-excited driver
crashing into the side of him, damaging the suspension, floor
and cooling system. The second race went better with Marc finishing
15th out of the 32 car field. The second event at croft went a
lot better with Marc scoring an 8th place finish in damp greasy
conditions. His results classified him 12th overall in the Winter
Series, despite his DNF in the first round.
Formula
Ford Festival October 2007
After
constantly posting amongst quickest times in testing, Marc found
himself disappointed to qualify 3rd in his group. After some hard
work by the Jamun team, Marc was confidant that all the problems
were sorted and he was ready for the qualifying heat. Unfortunately
he got caught up in some scraps, and dropped down to about 10th
mid-race. He managed to fight his way back up to 5th. This was
followed by the semi-final where Marc finished 4th, giving him
an 8th on the grid for the final. The final was very anti-climatic,
because it was red-flagged after just 13 of the 25 laps were completed.
Of these 13 short laps around the Brands Hatch Indy circuit only
5 were at racing speed, leaving little chance to overtake. This
left Marc finishing 7th in this prestigious event previously contested
by: Kimi Raikkonen, Michael Schumacher, Jenson Button, Anthony
Davidson, Mark Webber, etc.
British
Formula Ford Championship 2007
After
a less than perfect start to the season, things began to look
up for Marc after a mid-season team switch. Despite missing 3
rounds of the prestigious championship, Marc managed to finish
8th in the championship. He achieved four 4th places (one from
starting 27th on the grid), as well as four 5th places, despite
it being his first time on most of the British circuits.
